St Andrew’s Church Steyning: Brian Sawyer - Organ ConcertSunday 3rd March - 11:15 - 11:45St Andrew’s Church, SteyningBrian Sawyer, the organist of St Andrew’s Church Steyning, will be giving a short concert of organ music after the morning service on Sunday 3rd March at 11.15am
He will be playing two Fantasias for Mechanical Organ K594 and K608 by Mozart. These two pieces were composed towards the end of Mozart’s tragically short life (he was only 35 when he died) and are amongst the last pieces of music that he wrote. As their title suggests, they were written for a mechanically operated instrument rather than for a player, but have been transcribed more recently to be played on a conventional instrument.
Brian will be playing these pieces to raise money for St Andrew’s Church Building Fund. Entry is free and there will be a collection at the end of the concert which will last for about half an hour.
