Upper Beeding Parish Council News

Update on the White Bridge, courtesy of Steyning & District Community Partnership.

The footbridge over the River Adur just north of Bramber Bridge was closed by West Sussex County Council in late August, after a safety inspection.

The White Bridge Link Working Party has been keeping close tabs on what has been happening.  It has been liaising with the three local Parish Councils, Horsham District Council and the County Council, stressing the importance of the bridge to the local community and the urgency of getting it back in action.
Here’s an update on the story so far.

New Pedestrian Crossings.
A new Pedestrian Crossing on the Shoreham Road has arrived, greatly improving the ability to cross the road and giving residents in Shoreham Rd, Dacre Gardens, the Business Park (Including Happy Days Nursery) safer access to the village. Watch this space, as a Downslink crossing is coming to the A283 opposite the Fodder Box, plus improvements to the crossing at Dacre Gardens.

The Parish Council has taken ownership of some land along the river, between Adur View and Dawn Crescent. The plan is to improve the surface of the footpath along this stretch to match the White Bridge Link. This will commence during 2024. Please check this link:
