Take a Seat Campaign

The Church of St Andrews and St Cuthman has been described by international expert Professor M Thurlby as 'one of the finest buildings of the late 11th and 12th centuries'. Sadly however our 46 pews are currently covered by strips of carpet which are now very worn and frayed and do not do justice to our beautiful interior. Many residents visit the church not just to worship but also for a quiet space, or to attend a concert or wedding. Many local school children attend end of term services here. We hope to make the church more comfortable and welcoming and encourage more of our visitors to take a seat. We plan to cover all 46 pews and 12 choir stalls with one inch foam cushions, with hard-wearing, zipped, machine washable covers. This will cost £5500 so we will be grateful for any support.
