Steyning Parish Council Notices:

Advertising on the corner of Horsham Road and A283.
The Visitor & Tourism Group of the Community Partnership has been working with Steyning Parish Council and West Sussex County Council on guidelines to control the quantity and quality of advertising material that is being displayed on the corner of the A283 and Horsham Road.

It has been agreed that from 1st January 2018 any organisation wishing to display a poster or banner on the corner must book with the Parish Council Office (01903 812042), which is similar to the system which has worked successfully in Henfield Parish for some time.

a)    Signs will only be permitted that are advertising specific events being held in the parishes of Steyning, Wiston, Ashurst, Bramber and Upper Beeding.
b)    Posters/banners should only be left on site for a maximum of two weeks (or the duration of the event) and removed at the end of that period.
c)    The area should not be used for general advertising of individual businesses or institutions or for campaigning purposes or election material.
d)    Signs should be of an appropriate quality and not home-made.

Any signs that have not been booked in or which do not conform to the guidelines will be removed and stored for a period of 3 months before being disposed of. Any queries to Steyning Parish Council.

Changes to Car Park Charging.
By the time this edition of Your Steyning is published changes should have been introduced to the Horsham District Council’s car park charging scheme, following lobbying by the Chamber of Trade, the Community Partnership and the Parish Council. HDC has already changed the pay machines so they all take either coin or card, which has helped a lot of users.

In both Fletchers’ Croft and Newman’s Gardens car parks the time allowed for £1.50 (or using an annual permit) will increase from 3 to 4 hours. With the ‘doubling up’ scheme run by the District Council, if car users then buy and display a second ticket (or permit holders buy a ticket which they display in addition to their permit) the maximum stay will increase to 8 hours.

This should allow people attending day-ling courses at the Health Centre or events at the Steyning Centre to park for the duration of the event.

In the High Street car park, the maximum time allowed for £1.50 (or using an annual permit) will remain at 2 hours, with no extensions of time permitted. This is to ensure turnover of vehicles in this car park which is mainly used by shoppers and visitors.

All residents are reminded that they are permitted to use the Steyning Grammar School car park accessed beside the library (off Church Street) outside school hours and during weekends and school holidays. Use of this car park is free.

Horsham District Council has announced that the cost of the annual permit in 2018/19 will remain at ££12, with further discs purchased by a household at £6. These annual permits can also be used in Henfield, Storrington, Pulborough, Billingshurst and Roffey.
