Steyning in Bloom

Greetings for the New Year from the Steyning in Bloom team. And a big Thank You for your support in 2023. The Open Garden Day in June was a huge success, over 450 visitors toured the 17 gardens open for the event, and enjoyed both the more traditional and the wild ones.

We enjoyed the event as much as you did and are starting to make plans for the coming June. The date is Sunday 30th, the time 12 - 5. Put it in your diaries and we look forward to sharing some wonderful spaces with you.

We’ll have some wildlife friendly gardens again.

The move to make Steyning, and the countryside around, a more environmentally aware space is really taking off, and finding out how to make that work in our gardens is becoming very important.

Contrary to what you might think it takes a lot of effort!! But help and advice may soon be available.

The new Steyning Gardening Club is starting to take shape, and plans for activities look very exciting.

The Steyning in Bloom Open Garden Day will feature 16 or so gardens - we have several lovely new ones and you will be able to see some of those shown last year, and others that have been open in the past. But we would like more gardens, so if you would be happy to share yours, please let us know.

We try to offer a variety, cottage gardens or rolling lawns, pot filled courtyards, vegetable plots... whatever. We’re not looking for manicured perfection, just places of interest and character.

In these troubled times, nature - gardens and the wonderful countryside that surrounds us here are a great boost to the spirits.

We’ve been busy planting the High Street with bulbs, primulas and daisies for the Spring and in Summer will do colourful displays in the tubs and hanging baskets.

We are lucky to have support from the Business Chamber and the Parish Council, but our funding depends very much on you.

Each year we’ve added to our funds by selling plants grown by our team and friends but would love any home grown offerings you care to give.
