May 2020 Update from Community Hub Response

The Hub building is open Monday to Friday day 9-5, Saturday 9-1 and the phones manned remotely to cover the rest of the weekend.

From this call centre; volunteers are being coordinated, telephone support and befriending is being offered, food, toiletries and household boxes are being prepared and delivered, Foodbank donations sorted and distributed, and prescriptions collected and delivered to those who are self-isolating.

We are working with a team at Steyning Grammar School as well to coordinate the distribution of grocery boxes to support many families in our local community with pupils at their school and the local primary schools. Many from the local community, churches and groups have generously given to the Community Hub Response in order to support these valuable services.

We have more than enough volunteers at the moment. For those of you we have not been in touch with please bear with us – as new needs are coming up and teams expand according to need, we are contacting people as we go to join the teams. As you can imagine it is a very fluid situation from one week to the next. We are trying to make sure we do shopping and deliveries in the most efficient way possible, limiting journeys and risk to volunteers and the wider community as far as possible.

We continue to offer on-to-one telephone befriending and have capacity to add more people to this service if you know of anyone who may benefit from it.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, money or food to be part of this great community project. Please continue to let friends and family know of the help and support that is available to them.
