Happy Days in December

As usual Steyning was full of atmosphere and festive fun in the run up to Christmas. The High Street was aglow with glorious street light decorations, plus numerous small Christmas trees twinkling with fairy lights, which were securely placed high up on building walls both sides of the road.

A new event, the Cobblestone Walk Santa Post Box & Elf Collection was also in place. Pre set letters to Santa were available at Cobblestone Tea House, so the kiddies just needed to pick up a copy and add their 'hoped for' Christmas gifts and then post it in the very special North Pole Post Box.

Even more special, one of Santa’s elves appeared on several dates during December to collect the mail and speed it on its way to the North Pole. It was lovely to welcome some of the children on these occasions, so they could see the start of their letters’ journey and give the Elf a cheer.

Steyning High Street also hosted a Christmas Challenge Trail – set within 10 shop windows up and down the street, kiddies (and adults!) used their smart phones to click on QR codes downloading quirky AR characters behind various Christmas 'front doors'.

Once opened, selfies with these strange 'residents' could be taken along with answering riddles and puzzles. Once all 10 challenges were complete, a prize of an e-book was revealed. Another great family outing.

These two events were organised by the Steyning & District Community Partnership Visitor & Tourism Committee and funded by Horsham District Council.

Great family orientated occasions for all to enjoy. Only another 12 months and we can start all over again!
