He was secretary of the Churches Commission for Racial Justice from 1987 to 1998.He helped form the International Dalit Solidarity Network, campaigning against caste discrimination. A Methodist minister, he has lived and worked in Harlesden, Brixton and Notting Hill.
In 2012 he started the Methodist Tax Justice Network which in 2018 became Church Action for Tax Justice (CATJ) which he now chairs. He is also a Board Member of The Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility.
