Women’s World Day of Prayer in Steyning, Bramber and Beeding

On Friday 2nd March 2018 at 2pm the Church of Christ The King, Steyning will be hosting the annual Women’s World Day of Prayer, a unique service, prepared this year by the women of Suriname, on the theme “All God’s Creation is Very Good!”.
Suriname is a small country on the north eastern Atlantic coast of South America and has been described as the greenest country on earth.

It has a pristine rain forest including a wonderful array of creatures and vegetation. Beautiful, but also vulnerable, this ancient ecosystem is threatened by the mining industry, mercury poisoning, rising sea levels and deforestation threatening both the exquisite animal and plant life in the jungle and the livelihoods of Suriname’s people.

Living in West Sussex in such a beautiful part of the country with the South Downs, the sea and our lively local communities, we can understand how precious our natural world is, sharing with the women of Suriname our deep concern for the safe keeping of the earth. Like them, we want to be able to hand on to our children and grandchildren the beauty and wonder of creation – an earth teaming with life and diversity, which still has the resources to nurture the next generation.

Please come to join in with women across the world taking part in this service.Everyone is welcome.
