West Sussex Minibus: New Volunteers Needed

New Volunteers Needed

The Community Minibus Association (West Sussex) is a success story of how a group of enterprising people set out, in 1975, to help their neighbours, in rural areas deprived of public transport. The charity is a 100% volunteer organisation, receiving the Queens award for Voluntary Service in 2016.

A fleet of 12 minibuses operating from 8 centres, help almost 700 travel from their homes, to shopping centres, lunch outings and places of interest. The minibuses are particularly popular with the more mature population in West Sussex, many of whom live in isolated rural or village communities.

One of our passengers says 'I don't know what I would do without the minibus as I rely on it totally. It covers all aspects including shopping and social get togethers. It is my lifesaver just to get out and talk to others regularly.'

Membership is available to all ages, unable to reasonably use public or own transport. We also have Associate Group members, such as scout/girl guide school and church groups, unable to fund their own vehicles or want to travel for the occasional social event.

New volunteers are needed to help run the charity in our 8 centres. T 01903 740282, E: info@westsussexminibus.org.uk, W: www.westsussexminibus.org.uk
