Upper Beeding Primary School - Roman WOW Day

Children in Years 3&4 at stepped back in time to dress as Ancient Romans to celebrate their ‘WOW’ day which was part of their Autumn Term topic ‘Roaming Romans’.

The children looked amazing in their costumes which ranged from gods and goddesses to scary gladiators and powerful Emperors. They got their morning off to a lively start with a visit by the Rainbow Theatre who led them on a journey about living life as a wealthy Roman and a soldier and looking at different forms of entertainment.

For the rest of the day, the children participated in a range of activities which included investigating the role of Roman gods and their significance, and making individual mosaics from coloured paper tiles.

The children particularly enjoyed this last activity and lots of beautiful pieces were created. Both children and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed the day which ended with each class parading down a catwalk to model their costumes to rapturous applause.

Of course, the teaching staff couldn’t resist a walk themselves accompanied by a roar of approval from their appreciative audience.
