The Wilton Park Textile

An opportunity to the Steyning Community to view the recently completed Wilton Park Textile at Steyning Grammar School.

After the success of the Steyning Grammar School 400 year anniversary quilts, the creative team were invited to devise an Art Textile to commemorate the 70 years of Wilton Park.

The aim would be to translate the ethos of this remarkable organisation into a contemporary textile, and also to strengthen the understanding between Steyning's local community and this agency of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the end of Mouse Lane.

The‘Steyning So and Sews’ (a group of stitchers formed since the quilts were made) have been involved in this unique project. It is now complete and will be unveiled at a ceremony at Wiston House on 31st March where it will hang permanently. Before it reaches its final home, we have a one-off opportunity to display this beautiful piece of work in the Learning Resource Centre, Shooting Fields, Steyning Grammar School, from 16:30 – 19:30 pm on Monday 20th March.

We hope that our local community members are able to to come along and see the textile and an accompanying display showing the planning and making processes.
