THE OPERA comes to Steyning this Summer for an evening of glorious music and ballet.

Chanctonbury Chorus will be performing a “Night At The Opera” in association with the Kopinski Ballet Academy on Saturday May 11, 2019.

Accompanied by string quartet, piano and organ, the celebrated and talented Chanctonbury Chorus will perform popular songs from some of the world’s best loved operas, Including those of Puccini, Verdi, Mozart and many more. There’s also
a selection of songs from the pens of Gilbert and Sullivan.

The choir features three professional soloists who will be singing some of their favourite arias.

The choir will be conducted by Siobhan Denning and assisted by Liz Kirkland. During some performances, the chorus will be joined on stage by members of the Kopinski Ballet Academy.

Michael Kopinski trained in the Russian technique at the Polish National Ballet School and in 1998 won the highly prestigious ‘Prix de Lausanne’ international ballet competition. He completed his training at the Royal Ballet Upper School in London.

Michael then had a successful career as a soloist dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. His repertoire included: The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Carmina Burana . He now runs a private ballet academy near Horsham.

Tickets are strictly limited so early booking is recommended.

The performance is between 7.30 and 9.45 pm. There will be an interval when refreshments will be available.

The choir’s chosen charity for the event is Friends of St Andrews who are raising funds for this beautiful Saxon church.
