Summer of fun at Amberley Museum.

Amberley Museum will be open every day during the Sussex school holidays, and there are lots of events planned for you to enjoy.

The Museum will be hosting Toddler Tuesday activity mornings on the 25th July, 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th August. With a range of activities for the under 5’s, including story time, song and crafts, looking at different aspects of the Museum each week.

Also, there are Activity Wednesdays for children of all ages on the 26th July, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th August. Each Wednesday will look at a different theme around the Museum, along with hands on activities in the woodturners workshops and birds of prey displays from Hawking About.

The highlight of the summer includes Robots Live shows on the weekend of the 29th and 30th July. The robots from BBC’s Robot Wars will be visiting the Museum, including the champion Apollo. This special show is included in the Museum’s standard entry price. There will be workshops available to try your hand at building a robot, but these spaces are limited so pre-booking is advisable by contacting the Museum office on 01798 831370. On the August Bank Holiday Monday the Museum is hosting its annual story book day, this year will be with ‘Alice at Amberley’. With activities around the site, including the Mad Hatter’s tea party, the Museum is also holding a story writing competition for children of all ages to enter. Amberley Museum is a remarkable heritage site in the Sussex South Downs, with 36 acres to explore and over 40 exhibit buildings to visit, focusing on Sussex industrial and transport history.

Take a ride on the narrow gauge railway and historic bus. Exhibits include the telecommunications hall, electricity hall, working printshop, lime kilns, steam engines and more.

The Museum is home to traditional craftspeople such as the woodturners and blacksmith, with a café, gift shop, nature trails and picnic areas.

The Museum is accessibility friendly and dogs are welcome on site. We have been awarded the Kennel Club ‘Best Dog Friendly Attraction Award’ for Days Out 2016.
