Steyning & District Food and Drink Festival news

7th September - 5th October

It’s that time again, when the Steyning & District Food and Drink Festival rears it magnificent head.
The Festival runs for 4 weeks, starting on 7th September and finishing on 5th October, with both our opening and closing dates celebrated by the Farmers Market with live music, cooking demos, pumpkin weighs, sloe gin tastings and of course, all the wonderful food stalls.

This is our 8th year, and as normal includes a multitude of great special offers from our foodie shops & eateries, together with some awesome events held throughout the period. As usual one of our highlights will be our Author Dinner, celebrity detail has yet to be confirmed but it is always a great evening. As you will be more than aware, publishers are always a bit difficult to tie down this far ahead, so patience is a virtue.

This event includes an informal chat with the celebrity, delicious dinner and personal book signing, staged at The Sussex Produce Café and organised by Steyning Bookshop. The picture shows Mary Berry at one of our past Author Dinners.

Our Festival Charity this year is the Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice – a much loved, local charity.

As well as the many events we are holding which will attract donations to this cause, throughout the Festival some of our fabulous eateries will offer a Charity dish which, if chosen, will donate a contribution to Chestnut Tree House.

These dishes include lunches, dinners, pizzas and a charity scone. Event details so far – with many still to come – is: a Mulled Wine & Star Gazing evening; the Beer Festival; The Great Steyning Bake Off (Picture of Best Chocolate Cake 2018); Cobblestone Walk Family Foodie Day; food & drink related walks; Wiston Estate Winery Tour, Tasting & Canapes; Dayland Farm Tea and Artisan Bakehouse Jazz Tea, the list goes on.

We have a fabulous new website this year, which is just nearing completion and will be up and running by middle of June - www.steyningdistrictfooddrinkfestival.co.uk  At the moment it is just showing a holding page, while we complete the process.
