Sompting Abbotts: Prestigious scholarships awards

Students at Sompting Abbotts Preparatory School are celebrating the news of their impressive senior school scholarships and awards.

Five Year Eight boys at West Sussex school Sompting Abbotts have just all learned that they have won places at the public schools of their choice after a tough year of intense studying.

George Bryant-Nichols and Aran Sanghani each won an Academic Award to Brighton College (George also won a Millennium Scholarship to Lancing College). Academic results consistently place Brighton College, described as 'Britain's most forward thinking school' among the top 10 schools for boys and girls in England.

Kiran Patel won a Sankey Scholarship and Ethan Roberts an Academic Exhibition to Lancing College. Lancing College is rated 'excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate for the quality of the pupils' academic and other achievements and 'excellent' for the quality of the pupils' personal development.

Jonny Townsend won a place to historic Winchester College after passing the stiff entrance exam.

School Principal Patricia Sinclair said: 'All the boys were in a very competitive field so this is a tremendous achievement. Hearty congratulations to each one of them, they have all worked extremely hard across a prolonged period.' She added that she felt the results were a tribute to the school’s staff. 'We are a small school competing against much larger ones: our results speak for themselves.' Mrs Sinclair said she wanted to thank the Headmaster Mr Stuart Douch and the staff throughout the school for providing such a good foundation for the children to reach their full potential. 'These superb results will hold them a good stead for the rest of their lives. We are so delighted for the children.'
