Parish-based Neighbourhood De-clustering Plan
Following the recent “de-clustering” of the Steyning, Wiston, Ashurst & Bramber Neighbourhood Plan project (SWAB), Steyning is now going ahead with its own parish-based Neighbourhood Plan.The project requires six to eight volunteers to join the Steering Group, responsible for overseeing the Neighbourhood Plan to successful completion. We are looking for people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds who live and/or work in Steyning and are keen to play an active role in securing a thriving future for the town.
Essential attributes are:
Enthusiasm, time & energy to commit to the project and a willingness to sign up to its Terms of Reference. Integrity, resilience and the ability to work with confidential documents/issues are also important. Members need to be able to accept differing points of view, be willing to compromise and work with others.
Helpful attributes:
• Project management and organisational skills
• An ability to engage with members of the public and be receptive to their views
• Communication and negotiation skills
• An ability to read, analyse and understand complex documents
• Experience of working as part of a project team
• Relevant knowledge/experience would include:
• Town planning
• Architecture/housing design
• Environmental assessment
• Policy and grant application writing
• Data analysis
• Accountancy
• Community engagement
• Running a local business
• Heritage issues
