First Steyning Guides: An ode to Girl Guides

Last September 1st Steyning Guides re-opened in the village.

We started with just three and have grown to nine. We are promoting 1st Steyning Guides and hope to increase our numbers. The guides that already attend are a joy and Liz, my wonderful assistant leader, leave every week feeling proud to be part of this new chapter of girl guiding in Steyning. Annie Beecroft - Unit Leader: 1st Steyning Guides.

An ode to Girl Guides:
It was she who held the olive branch
She who said welcome,
To all of the young seedlings
All those years ago.
It is she who continues to lead,
To help those seedlings grow into
Independent thinkers,
Promise makers,
Fowers who hold out the olive branch
To all she who adventures beyond herself.
No matter where she comes from,
What she believes in,
Who she is.
To be a guide is to blossom
As part of the worlds biggest garden.
