Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove: Winter Warmer programme

As we remain in lockdown, our services at Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove are still running even though our centres remain closed.

With the current cold weather, you’ll find additional details of our Winter Warmer programme below for those older people most in need and details of transport options to help older people to get to their vaccination appointments.

Hot off the press is this month’s copy of our Connect magazine with details of The Big Knit, exercises to keep active at home and a great recipe for Banana Pancakes just in time for Shrove Tuesday!

A-Z of services…
Attached you will find a flyer A-Z of Services which lists all of the ways that we can help older people across West Sussex, Brighton & Hove. Please do pass this on to any groups or organisations that you think will find it helpful to know that Age UK are still here to help and what we can offer.

Winter Warmer offer…
The Winter Warmer offer can help in two ways. We have our Meal Delivery Service up and running; attached is a flyer with full details of our meal delivery service. The easiest way for people to access the service is for them to call our Head Office number 01903 731800 and select option 3. This takes the caller straight to the meal delivery team who can discuss dietary requirements, menu choices and take payment.

The second part of the Winter Warmer campaign is the Warm Homes programme, offering practical help and assistance to older people worried about keeping warm this Winter.

The initiative helps people living in, or at risk of fuel poverty by offering:
a) free benefit reviews
b) home energy checks
c) warm homes packs, including a hot water bottle, blanket and socks.

Details of the help available can be found on our website here Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove (WSBH) Warm Homes programme  or by phoning 0800 019 1310 between 9am – 5pm,  or email information@ageukwestsussex.org.uk

Whistlestop Arts…
And finally, the last episode of the fabulous Whistlestop Arts Audio Tour is now available Petworth Deer Park | Whistlestoparts.

We have loved the audio tours and associated craft activities that our partners Whistlestopp Arts have created because it has enabled the people taking part to feel more connected with the outside and given a little escapism from lockdown.

All the audio tours and resources are available for free on the Whistlestop Arts website HOME | Whistlestoparts, so please do check them out, pass it on and join in!

Take care and please do let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Very best wishes
Stacey and all the team at Age UK WSBH
