Steyning Museum
Steyning Museum continues to go from strength to strength with 2010 promising to be the busiest year ever. Local schools are making enthusiastic use of the facilities we offer, no less than 5 schools participating in our History Detectives Day on June 10th.
The Art Trail/Festival saw well over 900 visitors and now that all that buzz and excitement is over new exhibitions are under way. Each month we are showing a mini-exhibit of a treasure from the museum’s collections chosen by a Museum member and August’s “Treasure” is entitled “Pisspots of Old Steyning” (bedroom utensils in case you are wondering!).
The “Tracing Family Histories” exhibition opened in early July, concentrating on three local families: the Woolgars, Wests and Michells. If anyone has any additional information to add to our archives we would love to hear from you.
The Museum is run entirely by volunteers, mostly members of the “Friends of Steyning Museum.”
You will find information on the counter of the Museum or on our website, www.steyningmuseum.org.uk about the Friends and how you could help us by joining them- we do hope you will.
