Steyning Memorial Garden Refurbishment Project.
The construction work on this project, together with the planting, will no doubt be complete by the time you read this article. The contractors have certainly worked hard in some quite warm conditions, despite the mass of concrete they had to remove.
The opening ceremony for the newly refurbished Memorial Garden in Steyning has been confirmed as 1530 on Wednesday the 28th of September 2011.
The Garden is situated at the Northern end of the Memorial Playing Fields between the Steyning Tennis Club and the Steyning Bowls Club.
There will be a short introduction by the Chairman of the Steyning Parish Council, followed by a thank you to all those who have helped to finance this wonderful refurbishment, given by the Chairman of the Steyning and District Branch of the Royal British Legion.
Mr Harry Goring, who has kindly accepted the invitation, will formally reopen the Garden.
There will then be a short service conducted by the Reverend Canon Dr Paul Rampton, during which prayers Steyning Memorial Garden Refurbishment Projectwill be said, followed by the Exhortation and the Kohima Epitaph and ending with the National Anthem.
All present will then be invited to join together in the Cricket Club for refreshments.
It is expected that a few members of the Canadian Veterans Association will be joining us on the day and they are most welcome, as indeed will anyone who would like to join us for this great occasion.
Note: The refurbishment ground works were commenced on Monday the 11th of July and thanks go to all who are participating in ensuring the successful conclusion of this project, although, funds are still needed in order to complete the final touches.
