Steyning Chamber of Trade
The Chamber’s committee is now well advanced in planning towards our usual Christmas festivities. As in the past, this will comprise the approximately six week period of lights in the High Street, which is an extremely popular and much appreciated spectacle. As in the last few years, we receive no grants from local authorities (although Steyning Parish Council has already made a donation), and thus the Chamber has to raise the required revenue.
We have already had one successful fundraising evening, and another is planned for Tuesday, 25 October, which will be an evening Auction, and Chamber Committee Members will be approaching businesses, organisations and individuals to help us with items to bid for. All are welcome to join in. We need to raise a decent sum of money to ensure we get our much valued lights.
Also, some local shops will have the small white buckets on their counters for change from customers’ purchases to be voluntarily donated towards the Christmas lights project. These buckets will be in the shops soon!
Secondly, the Christmas Late Night Shopping evening will be Wednesday 7th December so please mark your diaries.
