Steyning and Henfield Rotary in June 2011

On 23rd June Val Trevor will talk to us on her ‘Visit to India and End Polio Now’. After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease. As long as polio threatens one child anywhere, children everywhere are at risk, and ‘End Polio Now’ is the final push.

The Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s global charitywww.rotary.org, is raising $200 million to match grants of $355 million received from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to fund immunization programmes in developing countries, aiming to root it out once and for all. Rotary members from all over the world also contribute their time and energy to these programmes: Val is such a person and she will tell us about her experiences in India as part of an immunization team.

We’ve lots going on in June with our new President, Tom Nutley, preparing to take over for 12 months from July. There’s a strawberry and cream garden party on 19th June and on 30th June we have our Hospice Cup golf day at Pyecombe, raising funds for Brighton and Worthing hospices.

If you would like a taster of what Rotary is about, send us an email at info@steyningandhenfieldrotary.co.uk or call Peter Johnson on 07714 093406 and we’ll get you along to a talk or a social event.  There’s lots more on our website www.steyningandhenfieldrotary.co.uk: read our blog, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook – we are easy to find.
