Steyning and District Community Partnership

The Steyning and District Community Partnership Annual General Meeting will be held at the Steyning Centre on Thursday 10th February at 7pm.

The meeting should last no longer that 30 minutes after which there will be a general meeting open to members of the public, which will finish no later than 9pm.

The Partnership’s aim is to guide and enable volunteers to run projects for the good of the community. It is just starting a phase of identifying projects for the immediate future and to produce a five-year programme of such projects and needs people to engage in this process. When projects are launched they will need volunteers to run them.

Please do come along to this meeting if you are interested in joining us in this work.

Current or completed projects include:
• Designing and publishing 4 different Walks Leaflets, which have been distributed over a wide area (to date, approx 16,000 of each walk with about the same number to be distributed this year).

• Working with HDC and Steyning Parish Council to provide public toilets in Steyning. Installation of Finger Boards in Steyning.

• Installation of a Tourist Information computer in Steyning Post Office.

• Designing and running a website for the district (Steyningsouthdowns.com).

• Working with HDC to provide more car parking spaces in Steyning.

• Establishing a Visitor and Tourism Group that works with local businesses and authorities in the district to increase visitor numbers.

• Establishing the Steyning Festival, which now runs independently. We run a litter picking group.

Our expense funding is provided by HDC and WSCC and projects are financed by grants from a diverse range of organisations.
