Sompting Abbotts - L’Entente Cordiale!
On Tuesday the pupils from Year 2 from the pre-prep department visited the main prep school to take part in “La Petite France” experience hosted by the 9 year olds in Year 5 at Sompting Abbotts School in Sompting.
Both groups of children had spent several weeks practising French dialogues contained in specially designed miniature “passports” which guided them through their various roles at Customs Control, the town hall, the Euro bank, various shops until they reached the cafe where they ordered delicious crêpes and milkshakes.
The older children dressed up in appropriate costumes to act out the various parts which included helpful policeman on hand to guide them to the next shop. The children sang and danced traditional French songs followed by a treasure hunt for chocolate “euros” hidden around the grounds.
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are now equipped to hop across the Channel and order their food and drink with authentic French accents. Vive “l’entente cordiale”! Annette Williamson, French teacher, Years 1-3.
