Mardi Gras Celebrated at Sompting Abbotts

Mardi Gras was celebrated in style at Sompting Abbotts prep. school.


After making their own masks, learning a poem in French about tossing pancakes and their unusual landing places, the whole school took part in a “saute la crêpe” competition.


This entailed flipping a pseudo crêpe as many times as possible within half a minute.

Despite two frying pan handles disintegrating, Mimi Woodhams (Junior winner with 40 flips) and Finn Barker (Senior winner with 35 flips) were awarded two special pancake dishes from France.
