Local Business: Make an entrance this Christmas with Ma Fleur!
Liz Trundle discovers an alternative way to ‘deck the halls’.
I’ve never been one to make a creative statement at Christmas. Cards, tree, stockings, angel chimes, traditional bits and bobs, the children’s nursery school lanterns have regularly formed the mainstay of my festive decor.
But this year will be different! For Xmas 2011 I’m moving on from draped tinsel and baubles on the mantelpiece ..... to something more subtly seasonal and quite frankly stunning! You see I have recently discovered Ma Fleur - Steyning’s independent, ethical floral design studio - and now I desire nothing but raw textures and ‘nature’s best’ to adorn my festive living space.
Local floral designer, Marie-Anne Edwards, is the inspiration behind Ma Fleur. “I have always loved earthy, natural textures and letting my designs reflect the seasonal shifts” explained Marie-Anne when she came to advise me on my new seasonal look. “My aim is to take wherever possible locally-sourced flowers and foliage and transform these into chic and elegant designs”.
Marie-Anne’s creations are truly one-of-a-kind. For the festive period she has put together a sumptuous portfolio of wreaths, table-centerpieces, garlands and dressed candelabra incorporating a stunning and colourful array of berries, ferns, flowers, bulbs and pines.
And so my orders are placed! I’ve gone for a rich velvety red rose and berry wreath (left), a hallway pine garland and a selection of hanging yew and moss baubles. These are decorations that will see me well into January 2012!
Ma fleur is happy to fulfil bespoke commissions for any occasion or budget. For more information please call Marie-Anne on 07786 541383 or visit www.ma-fleur.co.uk
