Little Foxes has new owners and a new name... introducing Elan Nursery
I’d imagine if you’re reading this that you have an interest in childcare, maybe your child used to go or currently goes to Little Foxes or you use another nursery/childcare setting in the area. Clare Coward, shares their plans for the future.
Clare is a director of Elan Nursery and a part owner of Elan Fitness Limited, which now owns two nurseries (Haywards Heath and Steyning - formally Little Foxes). After an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report at their Haywards Heath nursery in September 2009 Elan decided to expand by buying a second nursery and bought the shares of Little Foxes Ltd on 5th August 2010. Work started on the 6th August 2010!
“It is important to give the children an environment that is stimulating, safe & clean, somewhere where they are able to learn, develop and grow into independent, happy, confident children.” says Clare.
Their initial focus has been to improve the environment of the nursery. Work so far has included developing a quiet room with a book area, sensory area and quiet time/sleep place. They have created separate play areas for mark making, role-play, construction & small world play, maths & science and music areas. They have also created an ICT area so the children have the best environment to learn with a touch screen computer that uses the latest technology, digital cameras and video recorders specially designed for the pre-school age group.
Work continues... and they are now looking to add 2 Early Years Professionals to their team of staff, to focus on the quality of learning and the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
“Our philosophy is to invest in our staff as we recognise they are our main assets. We ensure they receive continual training and support so they are motivated to stay with us for a long time to provide stability and continuity in the care of the children.” says Clare.
