Late Night Shopping, Steyning High Street, Wednesday 8th December 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
This year the Steyning Chamber of Trade is planning to turn the High Street car park into a temporary ice rink as part of the Late Night Christmas Shopping on Wednesday 8th December 2010. Switching on the Christmas lights to open the evening’s festivities will be former Figure Skating Champion and local resident Marilyn Robertson-Aitkman.
Father Christmas will be swapping his sleigh for an open top car which will lead a lantern lit procession by pupils from St Andrew’s Primary accompanied by Steve Davies and his jazz band.
Our traditional Christmas theme this year will see the bus shelter transformed into a nativity scene with real donkeys and jubilant carol singers. Local choirs Cantatrice and Kaleidescope, the Woodcraft Folk and the Roundhill Morris Dancers will form part of the entertainment planned for this festive evening. As usual the High Street will be buzzing with entertainment and have an array of tempting stalls and welcoming shops with their special Christmas displays.
So get your skates on, take the stress out of Christmas shopping and join us, this year, for a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine available from many of the shops and stalls, and see if you can spot Father Christmas who will be handing out sweets generously donated by Steyning’s Co-Operative store.
