Hungry Sailors Come To Town!

The Hungry SailorsThe Sussex Produce Company is to feature in ITVs The Hungry Sailors and plays host to its stars.

Crowds gathered outside Steyning’s Sussex Produce Company this week as ITVs film crew recorded footage for its forthcoming show The Hungry Sailors starring Celebrity Master Chef finalist Dick Strawbridge and his son, James.

The Hungry Sailors – to be aired this autumn - follows Dick and James as they tour the UK coastline in a traditional frigate ship, stopping off at local food producers and restaurants, and turning their hand to producing and creating dishes as they go.

“We were thrilled when we were approached to be featured in the show,” comments Sussex Produce Company owner Nick Hempleman. “It’s excellent that Dick and James have chosen to highlight local outlets like ourselves and the great stuff local producers are offering.”

After feasting their eyes on the fresh produce and tempting deli items in the store, Dick and James went into kitchen and prepared two salad ‘creations’ for the public in the cafe to judge. “It was the battle of salads,” says Nick “Dick prepared Waldorf and James roasted vegetable – and you’ll need to watch the show to find out which salad won!”

The Hungry Sailors starts October 2011 on ITV. Visit The Sussex Produce Company at 88 High Street, Steyning.www.thesussexproducecompany.co.uk. Article kindly written by Liz Trundle lizbtrundle@aol.com
