Horsham District Council Health Walks:

Health WalkAll welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point (if you are new to our scheme please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for registration). Programme booklet containing over 250 walks is available by contacting the Walks Co-ordinator on 01403 215269 or by downloading from the website (enter Horsham DC Walks on a search site, e.g. Google). Beginners are recommended to contact the Walk Leader to discuss suitability. Forthcoming walks in the Steyning Parish and neighbouring areas are as follows:-

Tuesday, 1st June, 11.00 am: Steyning, 2 mile circular walk, various routes taking in parts of the village and its outskirts. Can be a few stiles and small inclines. Meet at the Steyning Health Centre, Tanyard Lane. Dogs allowed on a lead. 1¼ hours. Leader Keith 01903 813381

Wednesday, 9th June, 2.00 pm: Around Washington, Six miles for experienced walkers. Meet in the central car park near the Oddfellows Arms, Pulborough, TQ 053186, to catch No. 100 bus at 2.15 pm Contact the Leader Mike 07771 821734 for further details.

Saturday, 12th June, 8.30 am: Washington and Findon Valley. 6 ½ mile circular walk, some hills, exploring bridleways around Chanctonbury and Findon Park. Meet at the Washington South Downs Way car park (Grid Ref. TQ120119). Dogs allowed on a lead. 2¾ hours. Leader Mick 01903 745971

Tuesday, 15th June, 11.00 am: Steyning. As on 1st June above.

Tuesday, 15th June, 1.00 pm: Small Dole, 3 mile flat circular walk (six stiles) over farmland and along the Downs Link following the River Adur. Can be muddy in places. Free, just turn-up at the bus stop at the end of Sands Lane. Dogs allowed on a lead. 1½ hours. Leader Darren 07914 091261

Thursday, 24th June, 6.45 pm: The Countryman Inn, Shipley, all welcome.
4th  ANNUAL MID-SUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM WALK & BBQ & MUSIC
A shortened version (four miles, two hours) of our usual flat circular walk (5 stiles)  through farmland, Shipley village and Knepp Park where we hope to see Fallow Deer, Tamworth Pigs, Exmoor Ponies and Old English Longhorn Cattle followed by a pub BBQ at £10 per head as the last 3 years with The Southdown Ramblers band live in the pub garden. Wednesday, 30th June, 7.00 pm: Bramber, 6 to 7 mile circular walk for the more experienced walkers who crave the excitement and satisfaction of covering this distance at pace over difficult terrain. A history of socialising has developed after the walk, strong boots and a sense of humour required. Meet at Bramber car park. (TQ 188105) No dogs. 3 hours. Leader Geoffrey 01903 744881
