Groft Meadow Triumph at Shaw Healthcare East Regional Star Awards

The annual Shaw Healthcare South East Regional Star Awards took place this week at Shaw’s care home and regional office in Horsham, Mill River Lodge.

Residents, relatives, visitors and staff were invited to nominate individuals in recognition of their special contributions towards the care they provide. A peer group panel then selected the top five individuals in each category where their achievements are recognised and honoured. Staff were nominated in six categories and each of 12 West Sussex Homes that are run by Shaw, received a nomination in at least one category.

Croft Meadow, Shaw’s care home in Steyning, took seven awards from eight nominations with manager Beckie Condie scooping the coveted first place as Home Manager of the year. South East Regional Manager Martin Prince said “Over the last three years Beckie has grown in stature and confidence and is now a very successful and highly achieving home manager of Croft Meadow. Under Beckie’s leadership the new building has become a warm and friendly home for all the residents. Beckie ensures through her guidance, inspiration and setting of high standards that the staff team of highly skilled, motivated and trained staff deliver the highest levels of care at all times. Beckie is a true leader with dedication, commitment and a heart of gold.”

Beckie was also thrilled for her Activities Co-Ordinator Adam Judge who also took first place in the Care Support Staff category. “Nothing is too much trouble for Adam, he is an excellent role model who is highly respected by everyone who works with him.”

Croft Meadow also took all three prizes in the Deputy Manager and Team Leader category with Anne Michell, Tracy Reed and Sharalee Walsh all winning awards. Anne Michell, who is a Team Leader, took first place and was highly praised in her nomination, “Anne always has the well being of the residents central in everything she does and nothing is ever too big or small for Anne to take on as she rises to every challenge.”

First prize winners in each of the categories are automatically entered into the National Shaw Star Awards Event which will be held in May in Stratford upon Avon.
