Double Whammy for Local Nursery

Steyning Nursery - Little Foxes is delighted to have reached the NMT Nursery Awards finals in not just one but, two categories. Foxes are up for both the Green Nursery award and Nursery Chef/Cook of the year.

Vanessa Bamford, Foxes Managing Director said “We are over the moon to have received such recognition. We are very proud of our recycling efforts – not only do we recycle in the kitchen, office and nursery; we actively encourage our children and families to do the same.”

But the nurseries green credentials are so much more than that. Little Foxes was destined to be “green” before the first child even crossed the threshold. The building itself is built from timber from certified sustainable forests and has been designed in sympathy with its local surroundings at the foot of the South Downs. Vanessa Bamford added “Our nursery was designed by an ecologist consultant and operates a Sustainable Urban Drainage System, utilising a Reed bed, Wetland and Osier Bed to clean and return waste water to the land. This method uses no chemicals. ”

Lisa Young is the Little Foxes Chef who has earned the Nursery a place in the finals and she couldn’t be more thrilled. Little Foxes has always been committed to providing healthy and nutritious meals to the children in their care and are delighted to have such a highly skilled chef on the team. Lisa will attend a “Masterchef” style cook off in London later this month. Lisa puts some of her success down to the quality of ingredients used. “One of the great things about cooking for Foxes is their commitment to providing the best possible ingredients. I buy our fresh produce locally from “The Sussex Produce Company” who themselves recently won Sussex Food Shop of Year.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in November.
