Best Newcomer Award to Henfield Pub
Proud local residents in Henfield are pleased to have their historic, picturesque village placed firmly on the map as they celebrate the recent national, prestigious award of winning “best newcomer” in the Great British pub awards.
The former 16th Century coaching house, The George Inn comprises eight en suite, newly decorated bedrooms, all fitted with luxurious power showers, while retaining many of its original features. The Inn has recently been carefully renovated in keeping with a traditional English village theme, yet has a contemporary relaxed atmosphere designed for guests to be the perfect weekend romantic retreat, or suitable for cosy weddings, conferences and celebrations.
Licensee, Terrie Dye and her partner, Gavin Baker, who have run The George Inn for the last couple of years’, truly deserve such national recognition. For Terrie has recovered from severe health problems and numerous operations and subsequently, only been working full time in the last two years. Locals love her inspirational story, and herald her as their local heroin.
Terrie, however, vivacious and warm hearted by nature, entirely believes that it’s the support from her community that has led to her winning the national award.
“Without my regulars’, winning the award would not have been possible, their loyal support and trade, have made it happen.” I truly thank all my local customers, because without them, I would not be the proud owner of “best newcomer of the year” – my continuing gratitude goes to all my locals, my staff, past and present you are all my friends, and I would like to thank you all!”
